Judge Marshall Murray Marshall B. Murray formerly served as the Presiding Judge in the Children’s Court Division, Presiding Judge of the Milwaukee County Domestic Violence Courts and Family Court Division. He now serves as the Presiding Judge in the Probate/Civil Court Division.  Judge Jeffrey Kremers Jeffrey Kremers retired after 25 plus years as a Circuit Judge for Milwaukee County. Judge Kremers served as Chief Judge from 2008-2015. He had also been the presiding judge in the felony, civil, and misdemeanor divisions. Dana Pellebon, Executive Director, of RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center in Dane County Dana Pellebon is a community activist that has been working against oppression in all forms for her adult life. She is the Executive Director of RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center in Dane County and also coordinates community partnerships for county-wide sexual assault victim services through the Sexual Assault Response Team, the Commission on Sensitive Crimes, and the Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Coordinated Community Response Team. She is currently on the Board of Directors for OutReach LGBTQ+ Center, Urban Triage, Freedom Inc, and WorldBuilders. Presenting on: Coming & Going Exercise What is it about DV cases that frustrates you or complicates your job. This exercise will take a deep dive into the dynamics of the intricate relationships and struggles that impact the criminal justice system at all levels.

• Intersectionality Concerns In Domestic Violence Cases - Intersectionality is an approach that recognizes how oppressive structures such as gender, colonialism and racism interact with each other to set the social context for disadvantage and inequality. In the context of family violence, this means that services need to identify how these factors can be associated with different sources of oppression and discrimination, and how those intersections can lead to increased risk, severity and frequency of experiencing different forms of violence. Intersectionality is often included as an ‘add on’ to existing frameworks. There is a growing body of intersectional analysis on the challenges facing domestic violence survivors.
• Interdisciplinary Relationships with Culturally Specific Organizations: The Hmong Family Strengthening Helpline
• Working in Collaboration: Milwaukee’s DV High Risk Team Model—A Case Study and Lessons Learned
• Safe At Home Workshop -Established by Wis. Stat. § 165.68, Safe at Home is a statewide address confidentiality program that provides victims of actual or threatened domestic abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse, stalking, and trafficking, or those who simply fear for their physical safety with a legal substitute address to be used for both public and private purposes. The intent of Safe at Home is for those who fear for their safety to be able to maintain a private, confidential home, work, or school address and gain some peace of mind. Safe at Home is one of many tools that an individual can choose as part of their overall safety plan. This presentation will provide a general overview of Safe at Home as well as the important role multidisciplinary partners play in responding to program participants and protecting their confidential address.
• Aging with Safety and Dignity: Addressing Abuse in Later Life -We all deserve to age with safety and dignity. However, abuse in later life affects older adults more often than people realize. This type of abuse, which focuses on the intersection of domestic and sexual violence and elder abuse, is frequently underreported and overlooked, resulting in significant gaps in services and community responses tailored to older survivors' unique and complex needs. In this session, we will explore how age intersects with other identities to shape older victims' experiences, their help-seeking behaviors, and their definitions of healing and justice. We will also discuss effective collaborative community responses, describing examples from Wisconsin communities that are implementing the US DOJ Office on Violence Against Women Training and Services to End Abuse in Later Life grant. Learning Objectives 1. Define abuse in later life and the issues unique to older adults impacted by it. 2. List community collaboration strategies effective for improving survivor access to safe and just outcomes. 3. Describe efforts in Wisconsin to address abuse in later life.
