National Forensic Science Week Special Edition DFS Newsletter Extravaganza
FSW 2022
We opened the week with a Teams meeting to thank everyone for your continued efforts working in this dynamic field. We have so much to celebrate this week!
We do not rest on our laurels- the Milwaukee building design meetings are in full swing and will be ramping up for the last few weeks in September and onward. We already have discussed adjacencies and general design, but we will be delving into more specifics as the weeks progress.
If that was not enough…the Wausau building is also being evaluated and specs are being pooled together for a new building. Why have one building project when you can have two?
As was announced- we have identified a new LIMS system (BEAST.net) and are now in the contracting phase. DFS subject matter experts are heavily involved in this portion of the process.
The Crime Lab Symposium is right around the corner, and we will be celebrating 75 years. A 75th Anniversary is the diamond anniversary- and as you all know, diamonds are formed under pressure, which all of us in this field can certainly relate too. We are so impressed with the resiliency of each of you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for everyone who participated in the Climate Survey. We are going to be compiling the data and evaluating it for opportunities to impart effective change.
As we mentioned in the last newsletter, DFS was awarded money from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This money is going to do wonders for us as we have a need to invest in several sections across the division. We have invested in lab and office spaces to accommodate new positions and have the pics to show what we have done.
Like we stated on Monday- have fun this week and take the time to thank and acknowledge yourself and your colleagues. Our field is not for the feint of heart but we are lucky as a Division to have dedicated professionals who care about justice for the people who reside in our state. Thank you DFS!
