SCUPPERNONG SPRINGS | Saturday, Feb. 19 | 9 a.m.-noon
Get exercise and team up with the Prairie Enthusiasts on the third Saturday of the month to take care of a Milwaukee-area property. Scuppernong Springs has great trails that explore the headwaters of the Scuppernong River and numerous springs. It’s also home to a diverse array of plants due to the various habitats found here. While it is not currently a State Natural Area, it is a part of the larger Scuppernong Habitat Area which holds two other State Natural Areas. Volunteers will work on buckthorn, honeysuckle and other brush species in priority areas.
Click here to access directions to the meet-up location. Please note this is not a public access.
For questions or to RSVP, contact Walter Mirk at wamcp70@icloud.com or 608-391-1921. RSVP is preferred. Simply let him know that you’re attending and you'll be marked down as a volunteer.

Help us care for State Natural Areas, some of Wisconsin's most pristine public lands. Encourage native plants and animals to thrive by cutting brush, controlling invasive species, collecting seeds, monitoring rare species and preparing fire breaks. Show up for a workday or become a steward responsible for all volunteer activities at a State Natural Area. Any level of participation is encouraged and no experience is necessary to start volunteering.
More information on meeting locations, how to RSVP, and contact info is available on the DNR website.
