Action Needed: COVID-19 Vaccine Inventory Information on Vaccines.gov

Vaccinators to Begin Managing and Reporting

Currently, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) manages the inventory information on Vaccines.gov on behalf of vaccinators. Effective August 2, 2023, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) will transfer the responsibility of managing and reporting COVID-19 vaccine inventory information on Vaccines.gov to vaccinators.

It is important for vaccinators to enter their vaccine inventory into Vaccines.gov so that people can find locations that offer COVID19 vaccines that meet their needs or preferences.

DHS COVID-19 Vaccine Ordering Deadline

As the COVID-19 vaccines transition to commercialization with a newly formulated vaccine expected this fall, the use and availability of the current COVID-19 vaccines is winding down.

The federal government is encouraging vaccinators to place necessary COVID-19 vaccine orders prior to a cutoff date of August 3, 2023. However, to allow time for DHS to process orders on behalf of vaccinators, the last day and time to place orders for Wisconsin vaccinators will be noon on August 1, 2023.

Vaccine Commercialization Transition Resources

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently put together a summary document about the Bridge Access Program for COVID-19 Vaccines and Treatments. The one-pager provides an overview of the program and answers basic questions about the purpose, eligibility, and CDC partnerships.

The CDC is launching the Program this fall and has also put together a web page with more information.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a guide on July 6 that provides direction to organizations in the COVID-19 Vaccination Program as the federal government stops distributing COVID-19 vaccines and they transition to commercialization.
