Connecting the Member and HR Administrator Experience
All Employers | All Benefits
When My Insurance Benefits launches, members and employers will experience two different views of the same system. The member experience is designed to do two things:
- Provide 24/7 access to coverage information, and
- Walk them through benefit enrollments step by step.
Whether a member accesses the system during initial enrollment, open enrollment, or a qualifying life event (marriage, divorce, birth of a child, etc.), the member is prompted to consider each available coverage and to submit the required documentation.
After a member takes action in My Insurance Benefits, it triggers a task for HR administrators. From the HR administrator view, a list of tasks allows the employer to see their required steps to review and approve the member change(s). HR administrators may also search for member information, monitor enrollment periods, approve or deny member requests, and view reports to help manage their benefits programs.
My Insurance Benefits Launch Will Change Active Employee Death Process
All Employers | All Benefits
When My Insurance Benefits launches in July 2026, employers will no longer need to call ETF to report an active employee death for insurance purposes. Instead, employers will share this information through the Employer Transaction Application (ETA). Also, employers and members may use the Dependent Death QLE within My Insurance Benefits to report an active-employee dependent’s death; reports of retiree deaths and retiree dependent deaths should be directed to call ETF. Employers will continue to report an active-employee death via WRS Account Update.
Important Reminder: Continue Tracking Employee Updates
Local & Non-STAR Employers | All Insurance Benefits
Please continue to track updates to employee demographic and eligibility information, new hires, and employee terminations. Once the Employer Transaction Application (ETA) is available, ETF will require all employers to update this information so that your employees’ information is accurate for the My Insurance Benefits 2026 launch. Watch for details and plan to attend a demonstration to walk through the ETA functionality.
Insurance Administration System Employers Web Page
All Employers | All Insurance Benefits
The Insurance Administration System (IAS) employers web page offers an overview of My Insurance Benefits functionality. It is also a useful resource to help employers:
- Locate a past issue of My Benefits Employer News,
- Learn how to use multi-factor authentication,
- View a My Insurance Benefits Member Experience video, and
- Direct your employees to access an online WRS Statement of Benefits.
We expect this resource to grow with further offerings as the My Insurance Benefits all-employer launch approaches.
