January 28 to February 2, 2024 – Monterrey and Mexico City, Mexico
Wisconsin food and food ingredient companies—whether new to exporting or looking to expand their exports into Mexico—are invited to travel to Mexico City, Mexico’s largest city, and to Monterrey, Mexico’s third-largest city by population (second largest in GDP contribution). Buyer/importer one-on-one meetings will be set up in both cities as a collaboration between DATCP and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
Mexico is the second-largest economy in Latin America and the 14th-largest in the world. GDP growth in recent years has been strong due to trends including "nearshoring" manufacturing operations within North America. A large, diversified economy with deep trade and investment relations with the U.S., it is also the second-largest export market for U.S.-produced goods ($324 billion in 2022), as well as for Wisconsin exports (reaching an all-time high of $3.6 billion in 2022).

January 29 to February 2, 2024 – Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Wisconsin cheese companies are invited to join DATCP and Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin on a trade mission to Thailand to increase awareness of Wisconsin cheese. The mission will include a USDA Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) briefing, a Wisconsin cheese brand awareness seminar and product showcase, meetings with importers, retailer and food service provider site visits, and more!
Objectives include:
- Introducing Wisconsin companies and their products to Thai importers and buyers
- Generating awareness of Wisconsin artisan cheeses to retail, food service operators, specialty cheese shops, and other Thai retailers
- Increasing Wisconsin companies' awareness of the Thai market
- Providing opportunities to meet with potential Thai buyers
- Generating Wisconsin cheese awareness to Thai consumers and trade through online and offline media

With attendees from across the world, Gulfood is the place to meet and connect with food product buyers. March 4-5, 2024 – Costa Rica March 7-8, 2024 – Guatemala
Costa Rica is an appealing and profitable market for U.S. companies with a stable democracy, predictable business climate, and economic growth fueled by a resurgent tourism industry. After record-setting exports in 2021, shipments of U.S. agricultural and related products to Costa Rica were 10% higher through October 2022, with growth in all major product categories.
Guatemala is the largest market for U.S. exports of consumer food products in Central America. Guatemala is the largest U.S. export market for processed foods in Central America.

Chile is a free-trade partner with the U.S. and as such, it is an easy and secure place for Americans to do business. Chile is one of the largest export markets for U.S. consumer-oriented food products, has a stable economy, and is a gateway for U.S. exporters looking to reach Latin American markets.
Dairy, foods, ingredients, beverages, livestock, genetics, feed, supplements, wood products, and ginseng companies are encouraged to apply. This multi-sector trade mission will include buyer meetings, store visits, farm visits, market briefings, meetings with regulatory entities, and government officials, as well as with industry and economic development organizations.
Participants are responsible for airfare, hotel, and most meals.

Over the course of three full-day sessions, CEOs/presidents and senior leaders in sales/marketing, finance, and operations join with non-competing companies to determine their top three export markets and develop an actionable, strategic plan.
Agricultural companies, from processed foods, grains, and mink pelts to livestock, genetics, and more, are encouraged to participate.

In early November, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and staff from the DATCP International Agribusiness Center traveled to Mexico City and Monterrey to promote Wisconsin Cheese in-market. The team met with buyers, importers and distributors in both locations as well as received briefings from Agriculture Trade Office Mexico City and Agriculture Trade Office Monterrey. Retail tours in both cities included visits to La Comer, Soriana, City Market, Walmart, Costco, Vinoteca, HEB, Chedraui and Central de Abastos. An educational presentation with cheese sampling was conducted at the University of Monterrey (UDEM). An inbound buyer's mission to Wisconsin will take place in early May 2024 and will include key contacts made from this in-market visit.

In late November, DATCP hosted the Wisconsin Pavilion at VIV MEA 2023 which is the biggest and most complete feed-to-food event in the Middle East, dedicated to the world of livestock production, animal husbandry and all related sectors; from feed production, to animal farming, breeding, genetics, veterinary and animal health solutions, slaughtering, meat, fish, egg, dairy processing, and more.
Four Wisconsin companies were part of the Wisconsin Pavilion, where they had the opportunity to meet and talk with potential buyers from Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt who were interested in their products and services.
During the trade show, participants attended the USDA Market Briefing and Foreign Agriculture Service Reception to interact with and engage potential buyers and FAS staff.
*The Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports (WIAE), a collaborative project between DATCP and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), aims to boost the export of dairy, meat, and crop products by promoting Wisconsin agricultural products in the international marketplace. WIAE was proposed in Gov. Tony Evers' 2021-23 biennial state budget.
