VEB Partners with LifeWorks to Continue VPAP Services
The Wisconsin Veterinary Examining Board (VEB) is excited to announce that the Veterinary Professional Assistance Program (VPAP) has partnered with LifeWorks to continue offering resources to Wisconsin VEB credential holders. The agreement takes effect on Wednesday, Feb. 1, and an orientation webinar will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31 (details below).
The VPAP is a confidential professional assistance and wellness program for licensed veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians, and their households. The program assists with short-term issues such as relationships, stress, anxiety, and family issues, including child and adult care, workplace concerns, legal and financial issues, and overall health and wellness. Examples of wellness issues include substance abuse, professional burnout, and compassion fatigue.
The VPAP will work in concert with the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association mental health task force to identify areas where the VPAP can be of assistance. VPAP services are confidential and available to veterinary professionals and their household members 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The VEB recognizes that those in the veterinary profession, like many others in our communities, need support,” said Melissa Mace, executive director of the VEB. “Between working long hours, trying to maintain work-life balance, and the weight of student debt, many of these professionals struggle with depression, compassion fatigue, burnout, and anxiety. The VPAP aims to provide resources to help combat these issues before the burden becomes too heavy.”
The VEB continues to assume all costs for this program, which will now be hosted in partnership with LifeWorks. To access services, call 1-844-664-0379, visit login.lifeworks.com, or download the mobile app. Log in with username: VPAP and password: resources.
The VEB funds the VPAP, but usage is strictly confidential. There is no need to worry that seeking assistance will impact credentials. The VEB does not know who uses the service or what they are using them for.
