The Wisconsin Agricultural Export Advisory Council (WAXC) helps guide the initiatives created through the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports (WIAE)*, a collaborative project between DATCP and WEDC to promote the export of Wisconsin's agricultural and agribusiness products.
The council will hold informational webinars that are open to the public on the following dates:

With 54,525 visitors, a record-setting 2,663 head of cattle shown, more than 600 commercial exhibitors, and 1,375 international attendees from 86 countries, World Dairy Expo 2022 was a clear success. Utilizing funding from the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports*, DATCP's International Agribusiness Center Team organized several events to help foreign buyers meet Wisconsin dairy, meat, and crop exporters.

Global Dairy Symposium Held on October 6, the symposium hosted more than 170 attendees from the U.S. and 22 countries, featuring four speakers from across the U.S. and world. U.S. Dairy Export Council Board Member Marilyn Hershey, International Farm Comparison Network Founder and CEO Torsten Hemme (Germany), Associated Milk Producers Inc. CEO Sheryl Meshke, and Global Dairy Farmers President Ad Van Velde (Netherlands) provided information and insights on the dairy industry in the next three to five years. The event was funded by the WIAE*, with additional support from the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

Inbound Indonesian Buyer - Dr. Deddy Fachruddin Kurniawan from Dairy Pro Indonesia Funded by the WIAE*, Dr. Deddy traveled to Wisconsin as a potential buyer of Wisconsin agricultural products. He participated in the Global Dairy Symposium, presented at the Livestock Export Association Exporter Workshop, visited dairy facilities, and met with prospective suppliers during the show. This is an ongoing effort to promote Wisconsin livestock, genetics, feed, and other products to the 80 dairy processors and hundreds of farms in Indonesia.
Cochran Fellows Delegation Hosted by U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc., the delegation visited DATCP, met with DATCP Secretary Romanski, and received presentations from Wisconsin State Veterinarian Dr. Darlene Konkle, 75th Alice in Dairyland Taylor Schaefer, and Dr. Luis Santana of DATCP's International Agribusiness Center. The delegation contained 22 fellows representing industry, academia, and government from Nigeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. The group finished their week in Wisconsin at the Livestock Exporters Association Exporter Workshop and met with Wisconsin exporters.
A Value-Added Feed Buyer's Mission Hosted by Food Export Midwest in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and DATCP, this buyer's mission introduced buyers from Egypt, Chile, Jamaica, Philippines, Brazil, Vietnam, and Indonesia to nine suppliers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and other Midwestern states. The buyers expressed interest in purchasing processed feed, feed ingredients, and crops.
DATCP is again accepting applications for export expansion grants, which are funded through the WIAE*. Applications may be submitted through November 16, 2022.
This grant aims to accelerate the growth of Wisconsin dairy, meat, and crop product exports. Applicants must be a not-for-profit organization, located in Wisconsin, and currently serving or have the ability to serve Wisconsin agribusinesses. Projects can receive grant funds for up to two years in duration with an option to request an additional year. Grants will be awarded up to $50,000 for meat and crop-focused projects, and $100,000 for dairy-focused projects. Matching funds are required at 20 percent of the grant award and can be cash or in-kind.
DATCP, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), invites Wisconsin agribusinesses to apply for International Market Access Grants (IMAG) through April 1, 2023.
Coordinated by WEDC, IMAGs provide funding to support a company’s specific export development and deployment strategy. The WIAE* expands WEDC’s existing IMAG program by designating funds solely for agribusinesses. Applicants must be an established agribusiness that is new to exporting or expanding into new markets, operating in Wisconsin for at least one year, and manufacturing, processing, assembling, or distributing a product that has the potential to be exported.
Companies that have not completed ExporTech™ training can receive IMAG funding up to three times with a maximum of $10,000 per grant. ExporTech™ graduates can receive IMAG funding up to six times with a maximum of $25,000 per grant. Matching funds are required at 30 percent of the grant award. Eligible project expenses include costs associated with trade shows and ventures, marketing, promotions, consulting services, and export education.

DATCP is coordinating a Wisconsin pavilion for food and beverage businesses interested in building and expanding trade in the Middle East. Top U.S. products in demand are processed food, snack foods, natural and organic products, condiments and sauces, dairy products, and non-alcoholic beverages.

*The Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports (WIAE), a collaborative project between DATCP and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), aims to boost the export of dairy, meat, and crop products by promoting Wisconsin agricultural products in the international marketplace. The WIAE was proposed in Gov. Tony Evers 2021-23 biennial state budget.
