Workforce Board long-term care team selected for national best practices group
The Workforce Board's Long-Term Care Workforce Initiative team has been selected to share best practices and learn from other state and national policy experts by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. Washington’s work with the Direct Care Worker Strategy Center will focus on meeting the growing demand for a stable direct care workforce. Workforce Board staff will receive technical assistance from national experts and share best practices with other states over the next year. This collaboration aims to create a broader strategy among states to grow a strong workforce. Washington among six states tapped for youth apprenticeship work
Washington is among six states selected by the National Governors Association to participate in a yearlong program to advance youth apprenticeship opportunities. Workforce Board staff are supporting the Washington Student Achievement Council in this effort. The NGA's Policy Academy to Advance Youth Apprenticeship will help states create policies to improve and expand high-quality youth apprenticeship programs.

Rural workforce development focus of next Health Workforce Council meeting
Oral health for rural communities is on the agenda for the Aug. 28 Health Workforce Council meeting. Council members will explore how rural residents can access education - and good jobs - while staying in their community. This in-person meeting is located at the Capitol Campus in Olympia.
