Clean energy workforce surveys now available
We’re reaching out to employers, workers and unions as part of an important study on Washington’s workforce needs in the fast-growing clean energy technology sector. The Clean Energy Technology Workforce Advisory Committee, (CETWAC), with support from the Washington Workforce Board and Employment Security Department, is working to better understand the hiring and training needs of employers in traditional and clean energy technology sectors.
Please distribute these surveys to your energy contacts! If you represent an association, please distribute this survey to your membership. Thank you.

SCALE 2030: Clean Buildings Insights
This month, the Clean Energy Transition Institute (CETI) and Poppy Storm of the 2050 Institute will release two papers examining building stock, energy use, and emissions as a part of the SCALE 2030 project: the Clean Buildings Ecosystem Assessment and the Clean Buildings Transition Framework. These papers will also propose a framework and strategies to implement building decarbonization to reach Washington’s 2050 net-zero targets. In a recent post, the CETI outlined several interesting findings from the Ecosystem Assessment including:
- Emissions from residential and commercial buildings in Washington increased 62% between 1990 and 2021, so these emission trends must be altered to reach net-zero targets by 2050.
- Because the Puget Sound region has the largest concentration of housing units in the state and contains two-thirds of the state’s commercial floor area, the region could tackle more than half of the state’s clean building transition needs.

Find an Apprenticeship Program Tool
The state Department of Labor and Industries has an expansive search tool to help job seekers find apprenticeship programs in the area they wish to study and learn. You can find the search tool on the Department’s website – please share with anyone who might be interested in an apprenticeship program.
Energy and climate change glossary
Technical terms and jargon are often used in conversations about energy and climate issues, and sometimes it helps to look up the definition of a word or phrase. RMI has a glossary of energy-related terms that people may find useful in these situations.
