Volunteer on Sunday, July 5th!

The aftermath of the 4th of July can take a harsh toll on our coastal environment. Join your friends and neighbors on July 5th to clean up celebratory litter and keep our Birch Bay beaches safe for local wildlife, marine animals, pets, and people. Stop by the BBWARM booth on the berm from 9 AM - 12 PM for trash bags, grabbers, gloves, and refreshments. And remember, please celebrate with care — your fun shouldn’t leave a mark on Birch Bay’s beaches.

Join Us for a 5K Fun Run in September!

Love the outdoors, community fun, stunning views, and celebrating salmon and water? Join us for the 14th annual Run with the Chums 5K Fun Run on September 12th! This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages and speeds. Kids 10 and under can take part in the Smolt Sprint, a fun obstacle course just for them! See you at the fin-ish line!

The 5K will start at 10 AM, and the Smolt Sprint at 9:30 AM. Free T-shirts will be available - first come, first served, starting with race check-in at 8:30 AM.

It was a Great "Day at the Beach"

What does a mermaid, a nudibranch, and about 275 people have in common? They all came to Day at the Beach on May 30th at Birch Bay State Park! The 8th annual Day at the Beach was the largest yet, with nine interactive booths, hundreds of people, pets, lawn games, naturalist-led beach walks, free coffee, and lots of delicious snacks. Thanks for Joining us at "What's the Point?"

Sunshine, seastars, salmon berries, and seals were just a few of the many amazing natural wonders that over 150 community members experienced at Point Whitehorn during “What’s The Point?” on June 14th! We enjoyed sharing a booth with Whatcom Conservation District and talking about all things related to the Birch Bay watershed!

Farm Speaker Series

What is BBWARM? 

The Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resources Management (BBWARM) District is the stormwater management district for the Birch Bay watershed managed by the Whatcom County Public Works Stormwater Division and a citizen advisory committee.  BBWARM was established by the Whatcom County Council to address citizen concerns about water quality, flooding, and the loss of aquatic habitat.  Visit our website to learn about BBWARM programs, history, and funding.
