MCS-150 Biennial Updates

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information every two years. This update is required even if your company’s information has not changed. If you do not complete the Biennial Update, your USDOT number will be deactivated, and you may face civil penalties.

FMCSA Biennial Update Filing Schedule

When you must file depends on your USDOT number:

  • If the next-to-last digit of your USDOT number is odd, you must file every odd-numbered year.

  • If it is even, you must file every even-numbered year.

  • The last digit of your USDOT number shows the month you must file:

    • 1–9 = January – September

    • 0 = October

For more information or to file your update, visit the MCS-150 Biennial Update page.

Preparing for the Off-Peak Season

As the moving season slows down for the year, now is the perfect time to look ahead. Consider using the slower months to tackle fleet maintenance, refresh employee training, and evaluate what worked (and what did not) during the busy season. It is also a good opportunity to fine-tune your marketing strategy and get a jumpstart on preparations for 2026. A little planning now can make a big difference in the months to come.
