 Think About the Future
In April 2016, Pierce Transit completed its inaugural long range planning (LRP) document, called Destination 2040. In December 2020, a minor update to the LRP was completed.
Both documents, as formally adopted by the Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners, offered a vision for a greatly expanded fixed route bus network, based on a range of higher annual Service Hour scenarios.
This all-new Destination 2045 Long Range Plan will, once again, become a blueprint for growth over the next 20 years in high capacity transit and fixed route service options if additional operating funding were to become available. The document will include an analysis of the additional employees and zero emission revenue vehicles needed for service expansion, along with identifying potential new Maintenance & Operations facilities. In addition, this LRP will include a full range of cost estimate forecasts to achieve the various growth and expansion scenarios.
