Masks are no longer required on Pierce Transit vanpools. The federal mandate requiring masks on public transit expired on April 18, 2022. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.
While masks are no longer required, Pierce Transit vanpoolers may continue wearing masks if they choose.
We appreciate your cooperation throughout the COVID pandemic and your ongoing efforts to make vanpool as safe as possible for our family of smart commuters.

We are pleased to introduce flat rate fares for vanpool starting this month. The new fares are based on the daily round trip commute miles of the van. This mean you now have a simple, predictable, and consistent fare each month, regardless of how many people are in your vanpool group or how many days per week you commute.
There are now only six possible monthly vanpool fares:
There are no service changes resulting from the fare change. The new fares continue to cover all commuter expenses for participation in the vanpool program, including fuel, maintenance, cleaning, and insurance.
New Voyager Cards
Primary drivers, please be aware that your current Voyager fuel card expires this month. Your new card will be mailed to your home address on Wednesday, May 11. The new card is already activated and ready to use.
If your van is at Pierce Transit for service prior to May 10, we will place your new Voyager fuel card in your van.
Please let us know if you have any questions about your new fuel card. You can reach us at 253.581.8000 (option 3, then 2) or Vanpool@PierceTransit.org.

Caught in the Act Awards
We're always saying how much we appreciate you, our customers. And in 2022, we are excited to put our money where our mouth is through our new Caught in the Act vanpool commuter awards program.
The concept is simple: we catch you being an amazing vanpooler, and we thank you with a $50 gift code. Each quarter, our team will select up to eight Caught in the Act award recipients. Awards will go to those who contribute to vanpool in a significant way. Examples include recruiting new riders, helping a new group form, and going above and beyond the call of duty to support your group.

- Ted Adler
- Jennifer Bishop
- Stephen Frederick
- Mario Keane-Ortiz
