Dear Community Member,

brt

On December 10, Pierce Transit and project partners from the City of Tacoma and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) conducted a virtual public meeting to provide the public updates about the Pierce Transit Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. Throughout the meeting, attendees submitted questions to the project team in the online meeting Q&A box. From nearly 100 attendees, we received over 30 questions and comments. This is a large increase in engagement from our August public meeting where we had 30 attendees and seven questions/comments. In addition to increased engagement, we also increased our accessibility services by providing live-Spanish interpretation and English closed captioning during the meeting.

Be on the lookout for the next BRT public meeting in early Spring!

  • Creating four miles of transit lanes, which can be used by first responders in emergency situations, while preserving existing general purpose lanes
  • Managing left turns at 21 intersections for improved traffic safety
  • Installing three roundabouts south of 112th for smoother traffic flow, with additional intersections under review with the City of Tacoma
