Vaccines
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months or older get new, updated (2023–24) COVID-19 vaccine.
- People 5 years or older should get 1 dose at least 2 months after their last dose.
- Children 6 months to 4 years old should get at least 1 dose. Talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacy for details.
Need other vaccines besides COVID-19? You can get multiple vaccines at the same time.

Flu, RSV and COVID-19
We see seasonal flu activity every year in fall and winter. Last year, we saw a sharp increase in cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) among kids and older adults. COVID-19 is very contagious and spreads quickly.
While these diseases are different, all 3 have similar symptoms and prevention strategies. Learn more.
COVID-19 Guidance
- Washington State Department of Health (DOH) removed COVID-19 case reporting requirements for cases that are not tested by the K12 school or childcare.
- Schools are still required to report outbreaks to their local health department.
- DOH defines an outbreak as: cohorts with 5 or more positive cases, or at least 20% of cohort is positive.
- Questions about guidance and reporting? Contact Gracelyn Hogle, LPN, Outbreak Investigator at (253) 820-9804 or ghogle@tpchd.org.
- DOH supplies COVID-19 tests directly to schools through this school year.
