Ensure your drainfield meets setbacks to the building foundation

When the drainfield is upslope from a building foundation with foundation drains, it must be at least 30 feet away. See Table 4 in Environmental Health Code, Chapter 2 for more info.

When to submit a redesign vs. resubmittal

If you make changes to your design before we approve it, submit the revised design as a resubmittal to the existing application.

If you make changes to your design after we approve it, submit your revised design as a redesign application.

New terralift policy

You can now request a second terralift to reduce drainfield clogging. A certified Operation and Maintenance (O&M) firm, septic designer or engineer can request a second terralift if they meet conditions. Learn more in our Second Terralift Policy, effective Aug. 15, 2023.
