What happened
On June 1, 2023, the Department of Justice notified us that an unauthorized person accessed our Washington State Food Worker Card online training (Do it Right! Serve it Safe!) database. A copy of data from Nov. 18, 2018, was posted on an online forum in 2022. On June 26, 2023, we learned the data included 9,500 driver’s license numbers.
The unauthorized person shared the following user account information on an online forum:
- Name.
- Date of birth.
- Email address.
- Zip code.
- Driver's license number.
We are notifying you because the information accessed included your name along with your driver’s license number. This combination of information constitutes a data breach because it would not otherwise be available as a public record.
The driver’s license numbers were collected before Sept. 4, 2012. The state changed its numbering system in 2018 and many people have been issued new driver’s license numbers.
What we are doing
The breach occurred in a previous system. We have since moved to a new, more secure system.
What you can do
We do not believe this breach poses a high risk for identity theft. However, we encourage you to protect your information and review your credit reports at:
