Salcor UV lights no longer available. Use approved substitute components.

The manufacturer of Salcor UV light units went out of business. Many Aerobic Treatment Units (ATUs) use Salcor 3G UV lights to treat waste water in on-site sewage systems.

Currently, Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has approved 4 companies to substitute the Salcor UV light with another component. Please regularly refer to the List of Registered On-site Treatment and Distribution Products and DOH's Emergency Rule Adoption for current approvals.

If these units are not available, the ATU manufacturer must apply to DOH to be added to its registered list with another UV light unit.

Report of System Status (RSS) requirements

If you need to replace a Salcor UV light or you can’t repair the unit, we will place the RSS on hold. See Environmental Health Code, Chapter 2.

You must identify a cost and plan to correct this deficiency and disclose to the property buyer. If the seller can’t replace the unit before sale, they should apply for a 90-day RSS.

Once we approve alternative disinfection method for the treatment unit, we can issue an RSS.

Email us at ehsepticsystems@tpchd.org for questions about Salcor UV lights for ATU models not covered in the DOH Emergency Rule Adoption.

Operation and Maintenance (O&M) inspections

You should report the deficiency in onlineRME. We will notify owners and follow up when DOH issues and approves alternative disinfection units.
