Report of System Status (RSS), Septic System, and Well Application Timeframe
Thank you for your continued patience and help with the RSS, septic system, and well application process during the busy season. We appreciate your help to reduce call volume so we can concentrate on inspections and processing applications. When customers call, they tell us the O&M service providers have already informed them of our backlog and set reasonable expectations.
With staff transitions and vacancies, we’ve struggled to maintain our 10 business day target for RSS applications. Currently, most RSS applications take about 15-20 business days to complete.
We have a large volume of applications. Staff are working diligently to reduce our review timelines. Field inspectors are prioritizing the oldest applications regardless of geographical area. You can check the status of your applications online at eco.tpchd.org.
Help is on the way.
Two new staff will start soon to help work though application backlogs once trained and up to speed. We look forward to meeting our 10-day RSS target and provide you with prompt customer service.
Operations and Maintenance continues in Key Peninsula
Septic system owners in Key Peninsula are receiving reminders to have their systems pumped and inspected. You may get calls from homeowners who don’t know the difference between a septic system inspection and pumping. Remember they need to get their system fully inspected to comply. Learn more at tpchd.org/septiccare.
Financial assistance available for inspections.
Homeowners enrolled in Peninsula Light’s Project Help or Senior/Disabled Discount programs are eligible for financial assistance.
We’ve identified additional funding to continue the financial assistance program.
We need your help!
We’ve received calls from concerned septic system owners with significantly higher inspection estimates or pumpings which are not part of our requirements. Homeowners expect inspections to cost $175-400. We are considering limiting firms that conduct inspections. We would create an agreement with the firms and clearly define expectations. Help us avoid this change.
