Council Member Kristina Walker -- Beyond the Bin is Back!
City of Tacoma Washington sent this bulletin at 03/30/2026 09:00 AM PDT
Hello, Tacoma!
The City of Tacoma started a fantastic new service last year, called Beyond the Bin. Beyond the Bin is a series of free collection events that allow residents to drop off gently used household goods for reuse. Items collected at these events are redistributed or repurposed by local nonprofit partners, helping to ensure usable items remain in circulation within our community rather than entering the landfill.
It is so easy to get involved! All you need to do is bring your usable items to the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on a Friday. Collection trucks will be on hand, and our Environmental Services staff will be there to support you. (You'll see a sign like the one pictured here from last year!)
Partner organizations, including Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region, Habitat for Humanity, Northwest Center, Northwest Furniture Bank, and Second Use, will help ensure that donated items are repurposed and redistributed back into our community.
