Hello District 3!
Summer is here and there are some great events coming up! I hope you will have a chance to enjoy some of the special opportunities to learn, celebrate, and get involved in our community. A few of them are listed below!
I am also excited to share that the City has just wrapped up Pothole Palooza! Pothole Palooza was a fun way to help the public learn more about our roadways and the City’s work to address potholes, but it was also a celebration of the Street Operations crews who are working hard all year long to make tangible improvements to our streets and help our community members get around the city safely. During the week of Pothole Palooza, crews were out at 10 locations around the city, where they repaired and prevented an estimated 5,369 potholes. Thank you to our dedicated Street Operations crews for keeping our roads safe and smooth!

I had a great time volunteering this month with the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County, helping to make enrichment toys for cats, dogs, and rabbits. Thank you to everyone who came out to help support the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County and is taking time to serve in our community.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to share your perspective with me. I want to hear your concerns and questions!

Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises Certification Workshops June 27
As part of its ongoing work to address government contracting disparities for historically underutilized businesses owned by minorities, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, the City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting (EIC) team is partnering with the Washington State Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) staff to host two workshops on resources available through OMWBE. This workshop provides a foundational understanding of the process. At this workshop, members of the OMWBE team will be available to assist with the certification process.
June 27, 10 AM – Noon In-Person at the Tacoma Municipal Building 747 Market St., Room 248
After completing the two workshops, participants will have access to one-on-one support and ongoing follow-up as well as a thorough understanding of:

- The OMWBE certification process
- Documentation required by the OMWBE
- How to successfully complete an application for OMWBE certification
There will also be an opportunity for Q&A with staff at the City and OMWBE at the end of each workshop. Community members with questions, or who wish to receive information in an alternate format, may contact Linda Cerna at lcerna@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 453-9488. I hope you will check it out!
