Apply now for the 2020 Innovative Grant Program
The City of Tacoma is providing funding for the 2020 Innovative Grant program to create an opportunity for inspired residents of Tacoma to make a positive impact in their community, within the eight Neighborhood Council areas. We invite Tacoma neighbors and groups to apply for and implement a project that will benefit their neighborhood.
Each Neighborhood Council geography has $18,000 of grant funding for community projects. Projects generally range in costs from $3,000 to $8,000 each. Applications for funding will be available through June 30, 2020 or until program funds for a geography are expended, whichever occurs first.

City of Tacoma & Metro Parks Announce T-Town Family 4th Celebration Plans - The City of Tacoma and Metro Parks Tacoma have jointly selected Festivals Inc. to produce the city’s refreshed Fourth of July celebration along the scenic Ruston Way waterfront. This iconic summer celebration will showcase a new name, “T-Town Family 4th,“ and feature traditional fun, free kids activities, the region’s most spectacular fireworks show, and new experiences to welcome the next decade of celebration of what makes the Tacoma community so special.
Gas Station Park Public Meeting - The City of Tacoma and Metro Parks Tacoma are working in partnership to improve Gas Station Park located at 4801 South Park Avenue in the South End of Tacoma. At the end of 2019 the City Council allocated $350,000 to redesign the park and meet the evolving needs of the neighborhood. There will be a public meeting on February 6, 2020 at 6 PM at Stewart Middle School to seek input on preliminary designs for the park. You can learn more by clicking the link in the title.
Mayor Woodards to Host State of the City 2020 on March 4, 2020 - Mayor Victoria Woodards will host Tacoma's 2020 State of the City Address on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. During the free community event, Mayor Woodards will speak on the theme “Our Future in Focus”. Community members who are interested in attending this free, public event must register in advance via Eventbrite. Due to space limitations, seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
T-Town: Play, Explore, Learn’ City Services Expo on March 28, 2020 at the Tacoma Dome - The City of Tacoma is hosting “T-Town: Play, Explore, Learn” City Services Expo on March 28, from 10 AM to 3 PM, at the Tacoma Dome. The free, public event is part of an ongoing effort to raise community awareness about the services delivered by the various departments at the City of Tacoma, educate the community about how Tacoma’s municipal government works, and offer an opportunity for community members to share ideas and feedback about how the City should utilize its resources.
Affordable Housing Public Hearing February 19, 2020 - As part of the City’s Affordable Housing Action Strategy, we are launching the At Home in Tacoma project to evaluate diverse housing types and inclusionary zoning options throughout Tacoma. Through 2020, Tacoma’s Planning Commission is asking the community to join in a discussion about housing needs, development trends, zoning, and neighborhood change. You can make comments at the Planning Commission public hearing at 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers, 747 Market Street.
