Asked & Answered

Below are a list of topics and concerns that came up over the last month during Neighborhood Council meetings city-wide. Read on for clarifications and answers to your questions.

You Asked for It

Question: Does the Fire Department Offer CPR classes in Spanish? (Eastside)

Answer: Tacoma Fire schedules Spanish CPR classes annually in October as a part of the CPR weekend events. They can also schedule Spanish CPR classes, as needed, for requests that result in classes of eight or more students. These can be scheduled by calling the Tacoma Fire CPR line at 253.594.7979.

Question: What information on 311 is available to residents to view the types and locations of requests? (Central)

Answer: Results 253 is updated with 311 data on a quarterly basis. You can see 311 data sets here, and can use the search bar at the top of the page to search from crime data, fire data, and more.

Question:  Why are residents seeing fewer 311 options on the mobile app compared to the online system? (Central)

Answer: In order to maintain user friendliness, the mobile app only has a limited number of requests. The City put our most accessed requests on the mobile app. Based on user feedback, we have recently added someone living in a vehicle as a topic, and are constantly evaluating how to make the app more effective. Residents can also use the general complaint request online or call 311 when they are unable to find their specific need. If there is a request you'd like to see on the mobile app, please let us know at latoya.mason@cityoftacoma.org

Question: Where can we see what the City Council is considering on the agenda and in their Committees? (CCOT)

Answer: You can view the calendar and see all agendas and documents on Legistar
