During the Aug. 5, primary election, voters will have the opportunity to vote on a public safety ballot measure that would raise sales tax by one-tenth of one percent (0.1%). If approved by voters, the City of Spokane Valley will use the funding to hire at least 10 more police officers over the next two years and increase public safety (does not fund fire).

Pines Road from north of Pinecroft Road to Trent Avenue in Spokane Valley is anticipated to be fully closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 10. During the closure, BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) will install an underground support system, known as piling, for the foundation of one of two new parallel rail bridges.
The work is related to the Pines Road and Trent Avenue Grade Separation project, which will construct an underpass at the BNSF Railway crossing; eliminate the street-level crossing; shift the intersection of Pines Road and Trent Avenue to the east and replace the signalized intersection with a multilane roundabout; install new pedestrian facilities, lighting and stormwater improvements; and construct a new trailhead for the Centennial Trail with parking and restrooms.
Spokane Valley, along with neighboring jurisdictions in the county, is working to update the Spokane County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan’s goal is to help minimize the impact of disasters on people, property and the environment; lessen economic losses; avoid repeated damage; and support efficient and effective recovery when disasters occur. Help advise the plan by taking a survey.
