Temporary northbound bus-only lane closure on Rainier Ave S
Starting Wednesday, Oct. 28, Sound Transit will temporarily close the northbound bus-only lane on Rainier Ave S between S Grady Way and S 7th St. This closure will allow construction crews to perform water line tie-in work for Stride S1 construction. Crews will work in the northbound bus-only lane from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. There will be noise and vibrations from concrete breaking and saw-cutting equipment. See the map below for where traffic will be affected.
Traffic patterns will change during construction. Buses will merge into northbound general-purpose traffic lanes to bypass the work. Please slow down and follow posted signage when driving through the area.
This work is part of the road and utility improvements for the future Stride S1 bus line. Road improvements are key to ensuring that Stride S1 buses can move through the route more quickly. This work will allow Sound Transit to deliver fast, frequent, and reliable rapid transit service along S1. For more information on Stride S1 bus service, visit the Stride webpage.
