Sound Transit’s Annual Service Plan sets priorities for service changes. Each year, service planners analyze routes based on ridership, performance trends, and other criteria to guide changes to transit service.
The 2027 Service Plan proposals address ST Express ridership patterns. They also account for Link’s growing need for more overnight maintenance and the upcoming transition of some routes to Stride bus rapid transit.
Routes with service proposals include:
- Link: 1 Line, 2 Line
- ST Express: Routes 510, 512, 532, 535, 545, 560

New Sounder coach cars rolled out into service on June 1. The new cars are part of an 11-car order totaling three passenger cab cars and eight coaches. Riders will have additional legroom for some seats, USB and power outlets at every seat, and a new bike rack design.
At select busy park-and-rides, Sound Transit has established reserved permit parking areas. Transit riders can use them after applying for free carpool parking permits, paid monthly single-occupant parking permits, and advance reserved one-day permits. Here are additional information for parking at Sound Transit lots:
- Vehicles with permits have exclusive access to reserved permit parking areas from 4-10 a.m. on weekdays. After 10 a.m. (and all day on weekends and holidays), the lots become available to all drivers on a first-come, first-served basis; no permit is necessary.
- The number of permits available at each station is limited. Sound Transit may adjust the permit area, pricing, and availability over time depending on permit demand and usage.
- Carpool parking is free and available at select 1 Line stations and Sumner Sounder station. Find a partner and obtain a reserved carpool / HOV parking permit!
- Close all windows, lock doors, and remove valuables from your car.
- Parking is limited to 24 hours only. Violators risk being towed.
Starting June 15, ST Express Route 513 stopped serving the Eastmont Park & Ride because the facility shut down.
Passengers who use this lot should consider using South Everett Freeway Station. This station is 1.2 miles south of Eastmont and has more than 300 parking spaces. The Everett Sounder Station is also an option and served by ST Express bus routes and Sounder N Line.
Route 513 will see additional changes in the fall to provide more service between Seaway Transit Center and Lynnwood City Center Station.
On March 28, Sound Transit unveiled the new Crosslake Connection, the world's first passenger light rail operated over a floating bridge. This seven-mile segment of the 2 Line includes two new stations at Mercer Island and Judkins Park linking the Eastside with Seattle, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Federal Way, Lynnwood, and communities in between through rail for the first time. On opening day, Sound Transit saw record ridership, with 205,000 passengers using the 1 Line and 2 Line altogether.
