Now that the Crosslake Connection is open, both the agency and the region are turning their attention to our next opening this year: Pinehurst Station, Link light rail’s first infill station. The Sound Transit team is hard at work completing critical work that will allow us to select and announce an opening date for this important new station, and we look forward to sharing that news soon. A few updates below:
- The agency is planning to open Pinehurst during Q3 2026. The CEO will announce a date later this year. Check out our blog, The Platform, to stay up to date on the latest news.
- Final construction, testing, track access requirements, plaza work, and final regulatory approvals for the station are all determining the final stages of the station’s scheduled completion. These elements are critical for customer access, safety, and ADA compliance, and they must be fully completed before we open the station.
- The region is preparing for significant events and operating demands in the coming years, including the 2026 World Cup. Sound Transit has made the decision to open Pinehurst Station after the World Cup for many reasons, including the key construction activities mentioned above; but also, opening Pinehurst after the World Cup will let us maintain a reliable system for passengers while we host the anticipated 750,000 visitors to our region.
- The Crosslake Connection is now open! Check out our blog on how to ride.
- Get ready for the World Cup! Visit our website for information on how to get around.
