2025 Everett Link recap
In 2025, we were hard at work on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, evaluating all of the alternatives and furthering conceptual design and engineering. We hit some important milestones, such as completing NEPA Scoping in August, but still have more work to do in the upcoming months. Stay tuned!
We also received a ton of feedback on our Nonmotorized Station Access Allowance work, logging almost 1,300 comments on potential projects, which will help the project team prioritize and evaluate these going forward.
Although environmental review requires a lot of work behind the scenes, we always want to be out in the community, learning and listening. We held project briefings and meetings to build relationships and keep people informed of our progress and as always, Sound Transit staff attended events throughout the area to connect with community members and share the latest project information.
-
Participated in a total of 102 meetings and briefings with community groups, agency and jurisdictional partners, and elected officials.
-
Attended 11 fairs and festivals, engaging more than 1,947 community members, including Everett Pride, Everett Station District Street Fair, Lynnwood Luau, Mariner Future Fest, Mariner Fest, Nubian Jam, and more!
-
Hosted 5 tabling events, engaging more than 287 community members.
-
Held 2 public meetings, engaging more than 100 community members.
-
Launched 2 online open houses available in 4 languages, engaging more than 14,000 online visitors.
-
Received 1,705 comments and questions from members of the public.
-
Sent 7 project email updates, engaging more than 6,200 subscribers.

Fieldwork scheduled this winter and beyond
During environmental review, Sound Transit coordinates with property owners throughout the project corridor to collect important data in the field. We analyze this information to understand the potential impacts the project may have and advance design and engineering work. As part of this process, crews perform fieldwork such as noise and vibration monitoring, geotechnical borings, land surveys, and more. This work is ongoing and will continue throughout 2026.
If you see crews performing fieldwork, please note that this does not necessarily mean the properties being surveyed will be affected by the project; it just means that they are within the study area, and the work will help our analysis.
Draft EIS arriving in 2026
A critical part of Sound Transit’s planning process is to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS is a government document that is published in two stages: a Draft EIS followed by a Final EIS. The Draft EIS will:
-
Describe how the alternatives are likely to affect the natural and built environments.
-
Share key findings for you to compare alternatives.
-
Summarize feedback on the project from the public, Tribes, and local, state, and federal agencies.
Once the Draft EIS is published, which we expect to happen later this year, we will open a public comment period where you can share your thoughts on this important document. We will send an update when we have more information to share on our timeline, so make sure you’re signed up for our mailing list!
Stay updated!
We encourage you to follow us on Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram @SoundTransit and forward email updates like this to family, friends, neighbors, and your community! Expanding light rail to Snohomish County is new for many community members and we are trying to reach as many people as possible. Your voice matters, and we hope that you stay engaged with this project as it moves forward.
We are happy to meet with community groups to provide more information about the project. Please reach out to us at everettlink@soundtransit.org to request a briefing.
