Temporary southbound bus lane closure on Bothell Way NE between NE 157th Pl and NE 157th Ln
Starting Thursday, Dec. 18 through Friday, Dec. 19, Sound Transit will temporarily close a portion of the southbound bus lane on Bothell Way NE between NE 157th Pl and NE 157th Ln for geotechnical work. This geotechnical work will help us obtain information to design a retaining wall along the west side of Bothell Way NE. The retaining wall will support road widening and other street improvements such as dedicated bus lanes for the Stride 3 Line Project. King County Metro bus stops are not directly impacted by this work; buses will have to merge into general purpose traffic lanes to get around the work area (see map below).

A portion of the southbound bus lane will be temporarily closed for geotechnical work on Dec. 18 and 19.

On Thursday, Dec. 18, crews will clear limited vegetation to create a path for their small drill rig.

Drilling will occur on Friday, Dec. 19 on the western slope of Bothell Way NE.

Geotech/drilling equipment will sound like a lawnmower engine running with occasional hammering.

Working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Crews will access the work area from a designated access path.

Due to inclement weather or unforeseen issues, dates and times are subject to change.

WSDOT controlled signals are unaffected by the lane closure. Traffic plans are in place to allow for continued flow of traffic during the work. Cones, flaggers, and signage will be in place to ensure safety of boring crew and vehicles using the road.
