What's next for the Tacoma Dome Link Extension
After reviewing comments on the Tacoma Dome Link Extension (TDLE) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), Sound Transit staff will present what we heard during the extended 60-day comment period (Dec. 13, 2024 – Feb. 10, 2025) and next steps for TDLE at upcoming Sound Transit Board meetings. On May 8, the System Expansion Committee will hear an overview of Draft EIS comments and the preliminary staff-recommended preferred alternative. Please note that the staff recommendation is listed as preliminary due to anticipated feedback we expect to receive from the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. On June 12, the Committee may recommend a preferred alternative for the Board’s consideration. We expect Board Action on the preferred alternative to occur at the Sound Transit Board meeting on June 26, where the Board will vote to confirm, modify, and/or identify the preferred alternative.
To learn more about upcoming Sound Transit Board meetings, visit the Board of Directors event calendar and click on the Board or Committee meeting name for details.
As a reminder, a preferred alternative is a statement of where the agency is leaning based on information available at the time. It is not a final decision or obligation. The Sound Transit Board will not select the final project to be built until we evaluate the preferred alternative and other alternatives in the Final EIS, which we will publish no earlier than 2027. The Final EIS will also include responses to substantive comments submitted for the Draft EIS. In the meantime, you can now review the Draft EIS Engagement Summary and the Draft EIS Comment Summary Report, which includes all comments.
