| Welcome to the Spring 2025 edition of Sound Transit’s CTR newsletter! We’ve pulled together service-related and project-related highlights into one handy place for you to forward to your employees or professional network.
We’re proud to announce our two newest stations will open May 10, 2025, as we extend the 2 Line to Downtown Redmond. This 3.4-mile extension of the existing 2 Line will serve Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond with two-car trains running every ten minutes, sixteen hours a day.
Since Redmond is the bicycle capital of the northwest, our new stations will complement the city’s existing bicycle infrastructure with secure bike lockers at every station, as well as connections to Eastrail and the regional trail network. The new Marymoor Village Station will also feature a 1,400-stall parking garage.
These two stations will be the final ones to open before the 2 Line Cross-Lake Connection is complete in late 2025. Once finished, the 2 Line will extend from Downtown Redmond to Lynnwood City Center Station, connecting to the 1 Line at International District/Chinatown Station in downtown Seattle.
Please join us Saturday, May 10, to celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. followed by the official start of service around noon. See you there!
By the end of 2026, Link light rail will provide expanded service to areas now served by buses. To maximize the benefits of this new service, we're developing a plan to change ST Express routes so they provide connections to Link light rail.
Phase one of the 2026 Service Plan includes a short rider survey with questions about service preferences. This survey will be open from April 7–21. The feedback we receive in Phase One will inform the ST Express service proposals we present in Phase Two, which we expect to launch in June 2025.
Riders will have the opportunity to provide additional feedback in the second survey phase, which will have route-specific questions to help us refine our final service proposal. Many ST Express routes could experience changes as they are optimized to connect to Link, and we want to hear your feedback on our service.
Thank you for your input as we work to improve service for the communities in which we operate.
On March 1, 2025, Sound Transit Express bus fares were reduced from $3.25 to $3, aligning our bus fares with the Link flat fare. This will allow our frequent riders to purchase one monthly pass for full fare payment, and for less frequent riders using ORCA E-Purse to transfer between Express buses and Link without additional fare payment.
Fares for seniors, riders with disabilities, youth, and ORCA LIFT passengers on ST Express routes will remain the same. We look forward to seeing you onboard more often with our new simple pricing!
ORCA has announced that its Regional Day Pass fare is now permanent, providing more affordable and accessible transit options for riders across the region. The ORCA Regional Day Pass is now available for just $6 for adult riders and $2 for ORCA LIFT and RRFP senior and disabled cardholders.
This updated fare offers unlimited rides on participating transit services for one day, making it easier than ever to connect across transit modes and agencies. With the ORCA Day Pass, you can travel seamlessly throughout the Puget Sound area all day long while enjoying significant cost savings. Visit myORCA.com, the myORCA mobile app, a ticket vending machine, a transit agency customer service office, or Google Wallet to purchase your ORCA Day Pass today! You may also order a pass by phone at 888-988-6722 / TTY: 711.

On March 30, Sound Transit opened a new bus loop at the future Federal Way Downtown Station, replacing our former facilities at the Federal Way Transit Center. This will allow our construction crews to complete the remaining work as we near the opening of Federal Way Downtown Station in spring 2026. ST Express routes 574, 577, 578, and 586 have moved to the bus loop, as have King County Metro and Pierce Transit buses. This bus loop connection will support thousands more daily transfers next year as Federal Way Downtown Station becomes the new southern terminus of the 1 Line.
