Receive free trees in the 2024 Federal Way Link Extension Tree Giveaway
In collaboration with our contractor, Kiewit, the Sound Transit Federal Way Link Extension project will give 4,000 trees to community members and organizations in Kent, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Federal Way. Community-based organizations, neighborhood groups, environmental associations, classroom-based programs, community gardens, advocacy groups, and community members are welcome to request and plant trees near the FWLE alignment in these cities.
Young trees will be provided in one-gallon pots, varying in height from 1–2 feet tall. Most available tree species will be about 25–35 feet tall at maturity. Also, we will offer native tree species which can grow to approximately 200 feet at maturity. We are accepting sign-ups now, and the giveaway will happen in mid-October.
