In December 2023, the Sound Transit Board instructed ST staff to conduct a feasibility study of a new concept and location for the South Lake Union (SLU) Station. This study assesses the feasibility of locating the SLU station near 5th Avenue North and Harrison Street, roughly two blocks west of the current Preferred Alternative SLU Station. Staff will present the study findings to the public and the ST Board in early April. We will collect public feedback to inform possible Board action in May that will determine whether the Ballard Link Extension’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement will include this new concept and station alternative for study.
We will hold two live webinars and an online survey in April to share information about the feasibility study and gather feedback. We plan to share feasibility study findings, answer questions, and collect your ideas before the possible Sound Transit Board action on the new 5th Avenue & Harrison Street concept at its May 23 Board meeting.
