As part of the implementation of the new NE 185th Street road alignment, Sound Transit will close 5th Avenue NE between NE 183rd Court and NE 185th Street as early as May 30. The work will include an updated roadway, curbs, and roundabout, with reopening anticipated for September 2023. East and westbound access will be maintained on NE 185th Street via a shared lane.
What to know:
- There will be a 24-hour closure of 5th Avenue NE at NE 185th Street.
- East and westbound vehicle access will be maintained on NE 185th Street via a shared lane.
- East and westbound pedestrian and bike access on NE 185th Street will be maintained.
- Vehicle, pedestrian, and bike access coming to and from 5th Avenue NE and NE 185th Street will be closed.
- This work will require periodic night and weekend work, with a full closure of east/west traffic on NE 185th Street from 8th Avenue NE to 5th Avenue NE. Notices will be provided prior to the full closure.
- Commuters should expect delays. Plan accordingly for travel.
- Please follow directions of signage and flaggers for safe access.
When:
- Starting as early as May 30.
- Closure of 5th Ave NE for this phase of NE 185th Street restoration will have a duration of approximately 16 weeks.
