What we heard during fall outreach

Last fall, we asked for your input on proposed walking, rolling, and bicycling improvements near South Tacoma Station. Through an online open house and in-person outreach, we heard feedback from more than 50 people. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Excluding the S. Adams Street connections proposal, feedback was largely positive. An average of 57% of respondents expressing excitement about the proposed changes, while an average of 25% of respondents expressing concern. We received the most concern about the S. Adams Street connections, including from many people who work nearby and shared concerns about effects to street parking. Read the full engagement summary on our website.

We also heard questions and comments on topics such as safety and nearby development. Read more in the Frequently Asked Questions.

We’ll take the feedback captured in the engagement summary into consideration, as we continue working with the City of Tacoma. Project updates will come later this year, informing you on how the design and environmental review is progressing. By then, we will have a better idea about estimated costs of the improvements and seek your feedback for which improvements to prioritize. In 2024, the Sound Transit Board will select a set of improvements to move to final design and construction. All improvements are targeted to be completed by 2030.
