Project update

Tune in to the Sound Transit Board meeting July 28

Last week the System Expansion Committee met and provided recommendations to the full Sound Transit Board to confirm or modify preferred light rail route and station locations for the West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions project and request further studies in some areas to inform potential additional future Board action to confirm or modify the preferred alternative. Read the motion here.

On Thursday, July 28, the full 18-member Sound Transit Board will meet and may take action to confirm or modify the preferred alternative(s) and request some further study areas. As a reminder, the action on a preferred alternative(s) indicates a preference among alternatives but is not the final decision or obligation.

Members of the public may attend the Sound Transit Board meetings in person or in a variety of ways including dialing in via touch-tone phone, through their browser, or via the WebEx mobile app. For more information, visit the Board of Directors website. All meetings are recorded and will be uploaded to the WebEx Livestream archive.

Interpretation in Mandarin and Cantonese will be available for virtual and in-person attendees at the July 28 Sound Transit Board meeting.

After Board action to confirm or modify the preferred alternative, staff will begin to prepare the Final EIS, which will respond to comments received on the Draft EIS. We will reach out soon after the Board action to describe next steps and how to engage during the Final EIS process.
