On April 19th, the Elected Leadership Group chose alternatives to advance for further study in Level 2 of the Everett Link Extension alternatives development process. As part of this process, the Elected Leadership Group reviewed the Community Advisory Group’s recommendations for station, route and Operations and Maintenance Facility North alternatives as well as the technical analysis and public feedback. The Sound Transit System Expansion Committee was briefed on the ELG’s recommendations on May 12th.
Community input in the Everett Link project area continues to be essential to the project’s success. In response to public feedback during early scoping and Sound Transit Board direction to look for cost-saving options, we are also reviewing new station, alignment and OMF North options along I-5 and SR 99/Evergreen Way. We are still in the early stages of evaluating these new alignments and will share more information as analysis continues.
In 2024, new light rail stations are scheduled to open in Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood. One of our partner agencies, Community Transit, is redesigning their bus network to provide connections to light rail and improve bus service throughout Snohomish County. Learn more and provide your input by May 31.
We are working to reach as many people as possible about expanding light rail in Snohomish County. Your voice matters and we hope that you stay engaged with this project as it moves forward. Follow us on social media @SoundTransit, subscribe and forward email updates like this to family, friends, neighbors and your community! We are also happy to meet with community groups to provide more information about the project.
