Closure of I-5 northbound for night work

As early as Friday, May 20 through Monday, May 23, Sound Transit’s contractor will close the I-5 northbound lanes from 11 PM – 6 AM and traffic will be detoured to perform work for the Lynnwood Link Light Rail extension. Southbound I-5 will remain open in this area. This work will support the trackway that will cross over I-5. The SR 104 eastbound & westbound on-ramps will close earlier at 9 PM and the 236th St off-ramp to I-5 northbound will close at 11 PM. The MLT Flyover south and north ramps will remain closed all weekend. The contractor has obtained a Temporary Noise Variance to complete this work.

  • Removal of structural supports for the light rail bridge over I-5 requiring the closure of I-5 northbound between 220th Ave SW and 236th St SW

When

Full I-5 northbound closure will occur:

  • Friday, May 20, through Saturday, May 21, 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, May 21, through Sunday, May 22, 11:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, May 22, through Monday, May 23, 11:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m.

  • I-5 northbound between 220th St SW and 236th Place SW (see map for detour information)
  • SR 104 EB & WB on-ramps
  • 236th St off-ramp
  • MLT Flyover north and south ramp
