The Draft EIS comment period is an important opportunity to help shape how light rail fits in your community.

Prepare to comment on the Draft EIS later this month

Beginning Friday, Jan. 28, you will have an opportunity to review and comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions project. This document details the project’s potential impacts and benefits to the natural, built environment and transportation system for each of the alternatives. The document also proposes mitigation measures.

We want to know what you think about the possible impacts, benefits and mitigation our analysis has identified. We will offer multiple ways to comment including online, at public meetings, by phone, via email and mail during the 90-day comment period. Stay tuned for more information on how to share your input with us.

Community Advisory Groups meet to discuss station planning

We kicked off our second series of Community Advisory Group (CAG) meetings last week, focusing on station planning along the corridor. As a reminder, the meetings are open to the public to watch via YouTube livestream. Tune in to the final meeting in the second series, focused on Chinatown-International District and SODO, tomorrow, January 13 from 5 - 7 p.m.

If you’re curious about what was discussed in past meetings, you can watch the previous meeting recordings here. The next series of CAG meetings will be held in February and focus on the Draft EIS results.

Join a webinar for potentially affected property owners

Last fall we mailed project introduction letters to property owners identified in the Draft EIS as being potentially affected by one or more of the project alternatives. Business and residential property owners continue to participate in webinars to learn more about what would happen if the Sound Transit Board of Directors selects a project to be built that would require their property.

If you received a potentially affected property owner letter and would like to attend an upcoming meeting, sign up here! Each webinar is one hour and can accommodate up to 30 attendees. We will continue to host webinars throughout the Draft EIS comment period. If you missed the letter, aren’t sure, or just have questions please email or call (206-903-7229) and we will connect you to the appropriate staff.
