The future South Renton Transit Center is one step closer to reality with the demolition of the buildings in the old Sound Ford location starting this November. The demolition activity will be located on the north side of Interstate 405, in the northeast corner of the intersection of South Grady Way and Rainer Avenue South (State Route 167). The address for the transit center is 750 Rainer Ave S, Renton, WA.
Currently, building materials are being removed and demolition is anticipated to begin at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This work will not impact current traffic conditions. This demolition work is slated to be complete no later than Feb. 1, 2022. In the future, underground environmental work is planned for mid-2022 but could start mid-2023. The Transit Center construction is planned for 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
