Sound Transit owns property at 1000 NE 45th Street, a few blocks from our new U District Link light rail station, and we’re making it available for development.
Earlier this year, we asked for your feedback on what would be most beneficial for your growing community. Now we’d like to share what we heard and get your input to help refine our goals.
Visit our online open house to:
- See the results from the summer 2021 survey
- Learn about several factors that influence what we can build on our property
- Answer a few more questions to help us further refine our goals for this site
Sound Transit owns a property on NE 45th Street between Roosevelt Way and 11th Avenue in Seattle's U District. At 18,000 square feet, the property is about the size of six tennis courts. We used it during construction of our light rail extension to Northgate, which opened Oct. 2.
Now that we no longer have a transit use for this site, we can partner with a developer to build transit-oriented development (TOD).
TOD can include housing that’s affordable to a range of income levels, as well as new retail, restaurants, offices and community spaces. TOD supports vibrant neighborhoods with direct access to transit.
Affordable housing is a priority for Sound Transit’s TOD program. Learn more about this program here.
