Project update

Environmental review phase continues into 2022

Sound Transit has been working to develop a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which will help the Sound Transit Board, as well as partner agencies and the public, better understand the potential impacts and benefits of the project. While we planned to publish the Draft EIS this fall, given ongoing coordination, and the upcoming holidays, we now expect to publish the document in early 2022. Our goal is to ensure the public has adequate time and attention to review the Draft EIS results, participate in public involvement opportunities and make an informed comment. We’re excited to share the results of this complex work and look forward to hearing your input.

Community Advisory Groups interest forms close on Oct. 27!

Help shape the future of light rail in your community! We are looking for people along the project corridor who bring diverse perspectives and lived experiences to join one of several community advisory groups. Feedback from these groups, along with Draft EIS comments received from the public, will inform Sound Transit Board action to confirm or modify the preferred alternative for the project.

Each advisory group will be comprised of approximately 10-15 community members, organized by geographic area. Members will serve as ambassadors to their communities and bring forth community values, concerns and ideas. Members will receive a stipend for their involvement in meetings, which will occur monthly for approximately six months. People who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color, women, LGBTQ+, immigrant or refugee, low-income, or people with diverse abilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Our CAG interest forms are available in Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese and Somali and we are accepting applications in-language.

Submissions will close on 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021.
