Link Shuttle buses will operate instead of Link light rail north of SODO beginning Friday night and all day April 3-4
Link Light rail to the Eastside comes one step closer as work to connect the overhead catenary power and train signal systems for East Link to the existing line gets started this weekend. This will be the first of five consecutive weekends Link will be closed from SODO Station to University of Washington Station to accommodate this work.
The closure of all stations north of SODO will begin Friday at 10 p.m. and continue until Monday at 4 a.m. During this time, Link light rail will run from Angle Lake Station to SODO Station. Link Shuttle buses will make surface stops at the closed stations between University of Washington Station and SODO Station. Fares will be required for Link, but will not be required for the Link Shuttle buses.
Passengers should look for signs directing them to Link Shuttle bus stops and for “Link Shuttle” on the bus destination signage. During busy times, Sound Transit ambassadors will be available at Link Shuttle stops to direct and assist riders.
Surface shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes. Riders should plan extra time for their trips, which could take up to 45 minutes between SODO Station and University of Washington Station.
With the Mariners’ first home stand this weekend, fans taking Link to the games on Friday and Saturday should be prepared to catch the Link Shuttle bus at Stadium Station starting at 10 p.m. Friday. Sound Transit ambassadors will be at Stadium Station to assist riders arriving for, and departing the games.
The next closure will take place the following weekend, April 9-11. |
