Happy February! Wow, the first month of 2021 went by fast. This past year has felt like a time loop - and speaking of, Groundhog Day is tomorrow! Whether or not we have six more weeks of winter, we have less than eight months until the opening of the Northgate Link Extension. Read on to learn about train testing and more agency news.

Fresh pics: Test trains rolling to Northgate

Test trains have started rolling the length of the new Northgate Link Extension opening (on time and on budget) in September. This is an important next step as we prepare to open the new stations in the Northgate, Roosevelt and U District neighborhoods.

Wrapped train for All Aboard campaign

All aboard: Care for all. Hate for none.

Last week, we launched a new campaign to address acts of racism and harassment, and to help all riders feel welcome and supported while using our service. We want riders to know what steps they can take if they feel unsafe on board. Everyone is welcome here, and we're all better when we're all aboard.

Sound Transit's Andrea Stuart-Lehalle has been involved with many agency activities - from Toastmasters to the Blacks Empowering Success in Transit (BEST) employee resource group. Now, she's taking on a new challenge as she moves from the agency's Video Manager to its Chief of Staff for Safety.

Increased project cost estimates presented to Sound Transit Board Executive Committee

In January, the Board received updates on the continuing toll that real estate and construction market conditions are exerting on the estimated cost of the next wave of Sound Transit expansions, including light rail extensions to West Seattle, Ballard and Tacoma Dome, and a new operations and maintenance facility.
