Weekends of April 7-8 and April
21-22: Full closure of 112th Avenue SE between Bellevue Way SE and
SE 8th Street
This
construction alert has been updated to reflect a change in the weekend closure
dates for 112th Avenue Southeast between Bellevue Way Southeast and Southeast
8th Street.
Sound Transit’s contractor is planning two weekend
closures of all lanes on 112th Ave SE, between Bellevue Way SE and
SE 8th. The weekend closures are needed to relocate utilities in the
roadway and perform utility crossings. Additional closures may be necessary to
complete this work.
Anticipated
closure dates:
- Saturday, April 7th from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 8th
- Saturday, April 21st from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 22nd
Local access to Bellfield Residential Park will be
maintained. Flaggers and uniformed police officers will actively assist with
traffic control and driveway access. Please follow the direction of flaggers
and signage to safely access your destination.
Weekend of April 14-15: Closure
of three ramps from I-90 to Bellevue Way SE and the Bellevue Way SE to I-90
west HOV ramp
In advance of column construction adjacent to the ramps
leading from I-90 to Bellevue Way SE, Sound Transit’s contractor will perform
work to prepare the area for column construction. Crews will remove and replace
concrete barrier, and install asphalt paving and striping.
Sound Transit’s contractor plans to close all ramps from
I-90 to Bellevue Way SE from Saturday, April 14th at 5:30 a.m.
through 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th. Work in the area is expected
to begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
What to expect:
- All lanes of Bellevue Way SE
between the Wye at 112th Ave SE and I-90 will remain open.
- Ramps from southbound Bellevue Way SE to westbound and eastbound
I-90 will remain open. The Bellevue Way SE to I-90 HOV ramp will be closed.
- No access from I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way SE
- The sidewalk on Bellevue Way Southeast in this area is also
closed; people biking and walking should seek alternate routes.
- Northbound Bus stops on Bellevue Way Southeast, south of the Wye
at 112th Avenue Southeast will be closed and riders will need to use alternate
stops located on Bellevue Way Southeast, north of the Wye. Southbound stops on
Bellevue Way will remain open.
Detour from I-90 to Bellevue
Way SE and 112th Ave SE via I-405 and SE 8th.
Weekday construction traffic impacts: Week of April 9-13 and April 16-20
I-90
Tuesday, April 10th: Early morning
ramp closure of the westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way
SE ramp.
Wednesday morning, from 2 a.m. - 5 a.m., ramps from westbound I-90 to
northbound Bellevue Way SE will be closed while Sound Transit’s contractor delivers
materials and strips forms from columns.
During the overnight closure, all lanes of Bellevue Way SE
will remain open and drivers traveling southbound on Bellevue Way SE will
continue to have access to eastbound and westbound I-90. Detour to Bellevue Way
SE via I-405 at the 112th Ave SE exit.
Monday-Friday
8 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Daily/overnight closure of the Bellevue Way SE to I-90
west HOV ramp. The duration of these closures may vary based on the needs of
the contractor, but the ramps are expected to remain open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Daily/overnight closures of the Bellevue Way SE to I-90 west HOV ramp are
expected to continue on a regular basis throughout the project. During the
closures the contractor is performing work to construct the columns and
guideway.
24-hour closure: Beginning Monday, April 16, for approximately 120 days, Sound
Transit’s contractor will close the Bellevue way SE to I-90 west HOV ramp. This
closure is necessary to provide a safe work area and maintain safety for the
traveling public. During the closure, crews will construct elevated columns and
pier caps adjacent to and over the ramps from I-90 to Bellevue Way SE.
112th Avenue Southeast
Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Daily closures of
one northbound lane of 112th Avenue SE, between Bellevue Way SE and Main
Street.
Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Daily closures of
one southbound lane of 112th Avenue SE, between Main Street and SE 8th
Street.
Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.: As needed, in
order to complete utility work and facilitate wall construction, Sound
Transit’s contractor may close one southbound lane of 112th Avenue
SE, between SE 8th Street and Bellevue Way SE.
Bellevue Way SE
Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Daily closures of
one northbound lane of Bellevue Way SE, between the South Bellevue Station site
and the Wye at 112th Avenue SE.
Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.: As needed, crews
will close one southbound lane of Bellevue Way SE, between the Wye at 112th
Avenue SE and SE 30th.
Early morning work at I-90 in Bellevue
Delivery
of materials and work to strip column forms near SE 30th is
scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 10th between 2 a.m. and 5
a.m.
Crews
plan to begin work between east and westbound I-90 as early as 4 a.m. Monday-Friday,
April 9th- 13th.
In
order to complete necessary work and reopen the Bellevue Way Southeast to I-90
west HOV ramp by 3 p.m. each day, crews need to begin work earlier. Crews will
minimize noisier activities to normal working hours, M-F 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and equipment/vehicles
will utilize broadband backup alarms. Sound Transit's contractor is permitted
to work expanded hours along Bellevue Way Southeast, including 24-hour work in
the area south of the future South Bellevue Station site.
