Parking permit outreach survey
To better manage demand at the region's park-and-ride lots and transit centers, Sound Transit and King County Metro are seeking feedback on a parking permit program that would allow solo drivers to pay for a reserved space at select transit facilities.
The public can now comment on how solo driver parking permits might better serve transit customers, as well as proposed pricing options for permit parking, through an online survey. The deadline for survey completion is March 31. The public can also provide comment at several neighborhood drop-in sessions taking place throughout the region starting March 8. A complete schedule of these sessions is available here.
Ride Sound Transit to the game
Fans can cheer on their team without giving traffic or stadium parking another thought! Mariners and Sounders FC fans can ride Link light rail to their games by getting off at the Stadium or International District/Chinatown stations and taking a short walk to CenturyLink or Safeco fields. Special Sounder game trains serve select Saturday and Sunday games, for those traveling from as far as Everett or Lakewood, and ST Express buses serve the stadiums from all over the region.
Fans wanting the best game day experiences will plan their route, how to pay, station parking and bag choices ahead of time. Sound Transit's online trip planner will help find your best transit route from door to door. The Transit GO Ticket App or a pre-loaded ORCA card are ideal options for skipping lines at ticket vending machines. If rail is your preferred route, free parking is available at all Sounder stations as well as Angle Lake and Tukwila International Boulevard Link light rail stations. If you find Link stations full on weekends, Sea-Tac Airport offers a $12 game day parking coupon.
Remember that CenturyLink Field allows no more than one approved clear bag or one-gallon sized clear plastic freezer bag, which cannot exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, and up to one small clutch-style bag, which cannot exceed 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
With a little prep work, you will make it to your seats without missing a minute of the action!
Service change
This service change is rather uneventful with no changes to Link, Tacoma Link or Sounder service and only minor trip time adjustments to ST Express routes 545, 554 and 590. The only significant change will come later this spring or early summer when the SR 512 Park-and-Ride lot will close for about six months for maintenance. Park-and-ride parking will be available at the Tacoma Discount World near Pacific Highway Southwest and Montgrove Drive. Board buses at temporary stops at Pacific Highway Southwest and Montgrove Drive (northbound) or Pacific Highway Southwest and 108th St Southwest (southbound).
Tacoma Dome partial parking closure update
Work to repair and improve the Tacoma Dome parking garage will begin on March 12, 2018. Soon you will experience improved lighting, better signage, repaired concrete, fresh paint and a general clean-up at this important transit hub. Pierce Transit will manage the extensive job which will take about one year to complete. During that time, crews will block off 200 stalls on a rotating basis. There are a number of alternative lots available. Lot 1 at 704 Puyallup Ave. is directly across East G St. with 68 stalls available. Lot 2 is a daily pay parking lot on Puyallup Ave. under I-705. The Tacoma Dome has opened its “A” lot on East D St south of East 26th St. that is $2/day or $30/month. We sincerely thank you for your patience as we make these important repairs and improvements.
