The Everett Link Extension Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is ready for review. Sound Transit also has been holding public meetings/hearings where people can learn more and share feedback. The last scheduled in-person community meeting is on Wednesday, October 21. You can also submit comments online, by email or by phone. Be sure to share your comments by November 2, 2026.
The Draft EIS explores how different project alternatives could impact the physical, natural, and human environment. It explains how potential impacts would be reduced where feasible. It also allows you to compare the options and offer suggestions to shape light rail access in your community.

I want to thank everyone who came out to the recent meetings. It was my pleasure to talk with some of you on October 13 at Mariner High School. The next – and last – scheduled in-person meeting is Wednesday, October 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center, 19509 64th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA.

Snohomish County Human Services wants to hear from you. Take the Community Needs Assessment survey to share what’s working well, what challenges you’re experiencing, and what would help you and your community thrive.
The assessment is focused especially on understanding the experiences of people with lower incomes and those working to make ends meet, helping build a clearer picture of needs and strengths across Snohomish County.
If your ballot is still waiting on the kitchen counter, take a moment this week to review it, make your selections, sign it, and return it to a ballot drop box. If your ballot has been lost, damaged, or never arrived, contact Snohomish County Elections at 425-388-3444 for assistance.

Return it to an official ballot drop box. The most reliable way to make sure your ballot is received on time is to use an official, county-operated ballot drop box. There are 38 drop boxes available throughout Snohomish County, and they are open 24/7 until 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 3. Find a drop box near you at bit.ly/SnoCo_dropbox.

Mailing your ballot? Don’t wait. If you plan to return your ballot by mail, election officials strongly recommend mailing it at least one week before Election Day to allow extra time for processing and delivery. Recent changes to USPS operations have affected pickup and delivery times in some areas, particularly in more rural communities.
Batches of Snohomish County ballots sit in green trays awaiting processing, while election workers process ballots in the background.
It was my honor to meet earlier this month with Víctor Hugo López Ortega, the Head Consul from the Mexican Consulate in Seattle. We talked about how Snohomish County and Mexico can collaboratively support our residents and build thriving communities. Consul Ortega shared that he sees promising avenues with our aerospace industry and Mexico’s growing pool of engineering talent, with our air travel options out of Paine Field Airport, and with our active tourism team. I agree. We also talked about how the Mexican community in Snohomish County contributes every day to the economy, culture, and quality of life here. I look forward to new opportunities to strengthen connections between Snohomish County and Mexico.

Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) is seeking public input on the draft Stormwater Management Action Plan for the Upper North Creek watershed. This 20-year plan is meant to address the water quality of the watershed. It identifies actions and projects to address transportation related runoff. As car and truck tires age and wear they create tire dust that reacts with ozone in the air, creating a chemical that is lethal to coho salmon. The upper North Creek watershed was chosen to address tire dust because of the type of road infrastructure, the outflows from roads into the creek, as well as the presence of coho in this watershed.
As part of the final step in the planning process, the public is invited to give input on the draft plan by October 30. More information and the comment form can be found on the project webpage.
