Arlington Regional Law Enforcement Graduation Ceremony
The month of June is often filled with graduation celebrations, and one of my favorite ceremonies is the Regional Training Academy Graduation. This event recognizes law enforcement recruits and their dedication to protecting our communities while continuing the tradition of having a positive and productive culture throughout the state. A very special thank you to Senator Lovick for the invitation, and congratulations to the graduating class!
I had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Snohomish County Update to hear from Executive Somers about his priorities for our community. This event is always a great time to connect with local leaders, elected officials, and community members who are engaged in the issues that our communities care about. A special thank you to Economic Alliance Snohomish County for hosting yet another successful event.
Little Wings Learning Academy Ribbon-Cutting
One of the highlights for the month of June was attending the Little Wings Learning Academy ribbon-cutting event. Little Wings Learning Academy is a stunning facility offering age-specific classrooms for infants, toddlers, preschool, pre-K, and school-aged children. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony in 2025, I had no idea what a fantastic facility the academy would come to be. Great work by Shana Peschek, IAM leaders, and community members for bringing this site to life. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be an invaluable asset to our workforce.
Snohomish County Affordable Housing Conference
In June, I was invited to speak on a panel hosted by the Housing Consortium of Everett & Snohomish County to discuss housing affordability in our community. The event was incredibly well attended by professionals from housing, human services, construction and design, financing, and transportation. During the event, leaders were able to collaborate and strategize solutions for affordable housing throughout our communities. A very special thank you to Bobby Thompson for the invitation and for bringing together the local leaders who can create real solutions for our region.
I was invited to celebrate World Refugee Day hosted by Refugee and Immigrant Services Northwest. The event featured food, performances, and speeches highlighting the cultural diversity that makes Snohomish County special. I am very thankful to Van Dinh-Kuno and her leadership for hosting this event celebrating the people of our communities.
To close out the month of June, I had the great privilege of attending and speaking at the annual Evergreen Boys State conference. For the first time, the program offered a coed cohort and was attended by nearly 100 high school students from around the state. The week-long event allows students to create their own forms of government, elect leaders within their parties, and weigh in on policy issues. This event is always an inspiring moment to engage with students who are interested in local government and civic engagement. Thank you to Grant for hosting Councilmember Nehring and me for another great event.

Ending the month of June, we celebrated the grand opening of the New Start Center in Edmonds. The center will serve as emergency bridge housing for people experiencing homelessness. Individuals will be served at the center based on referrals from the cities of Lynnwood and Edmonds, South County Fire, Snohomish County, and partner agency programs in the community. In total, the center provides up to 45 units of housing with 24/7 onsite staffing and supportive services operated by the YWCA. The center is the culmination of multiple agency efforts and an incredible amount of collaboration to bring this center online. I look forward to seeing the success of this center.
