Hope Creek Charitable Foundation Groundbreaking Ceremony
Last month, the Hope Creek Charitable Foundation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new warehouse to store and distribute food to the Mill Creek, Everett, and surrounding communities. The new warehouse facility is imperative to operations after a tree fell and damaged three storage units on the property earlier this year. The new warehouse space will create a permanent solution for storing food and supplies.
Throughout my time on council, I have worked closely with the amazing staff and volunteers at the Hope Creek Charitable Foundation, and I am excited to continue to see this organization grow to serve our communities.
Quarterly Leadership Update - The City of Mountlake Terrace
Earlier last month, I met with Mountlake Terrace leadership for our quarterly check-in. During this meeting, we discussed new and creative housing options that the city is exploring and implementing. I’m really excited to see how Mountlake Terrace leadership is thinking outside the box to provide a variety of housing options for families and homeownership opportunities. I’m hoping that with their leadership in this space, other communities throughout Snohomish County can be inspired to find creative housing solutions to fit needs for all.
Clearview Community Meeting to Discuss Zoning
Recently, I was invited to attend a Clearview Community meeting to discuss cannabis and marijuana retail zoning in Clearview. This meeting was well-attended, providing an opportunity for those who live and work in the community to share their perspectives on marijuana retail within the Clearview Rural Commercial zone. I always greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear from this community group and to advocate on their behalf. Thank you to the Clearview community for continuing to invite me to engage in these important conversations.
City of Bothell Leadership Meeting
Last week, I met with Bothell City Manager Kyle Stannert to discuss projects and opportunities for collaboration between the City of Bothell and Snohomish County. One topic we focused on during our conversation was opportunities for cities and the county to collaborate when annexations are being considered. I am grateful to have the honor of maintaining a great working relationship with the cities in District 4, so when there is an issue or an idea, we can work together to create meaningful policies that positively shape our communities.
A Day in the Life Job Shadow Event at Snohomish County Campus
Recently, I hosted three students at the Snohomish County campus to job shadow the life of a county councilmember. During the day, students were able to attend council meetings, meet with staff and elected officials, tour the county campus, and learn about their county government. I am incredibly grateful for opportunities to inspire our youth to become involved in their communities and local government. Stay tuned for an internship program I’m working with council to launch this upcoming school year!
